Hurricane Ian made landfall over southwest Florida

Hurricane Ian made landfall over southwest Florida (at the island of Cayo Costa near Fort Myers and Cape Coral) on September 28, 2022, with winds around 150 mph. Ian made landfall as a Category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Later, Ian made another landfall on 30th September evening over north of Charleston, South Carolina as a Category 1 storm with winds around 85 mph.


Hurricane Michael made landfall over Florida Panhandle

Hurricane Michael made catastrophic landfall over Florida Panhandle (near Mexico Beach, about 20 miles from Panama City) on October 10, 2018, with winds up to 155 mph. Michael made landfall as a Category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. It was also the most powerful storm to hit the US mainland since Hurricane Andrew in 1992, causing over $25 billion in damage and 16 fatalities. 16 tornadoes associated with Michael have been reported in Florida (2), Georgia (3), South Carolina (4) and Virginia(7), however they only caused minimal damages.
